Do I need bicycle Insurance?

We also offer cycle hire while you are without your bicycle and competing cover.
Is bicycle insurance good value for money?
You should always check that the cover and benefits are good value for money, and you should always shop around to get the best deal.
Do remember, value isn’t always just price, it’s cover, benefits, service, peace of mind and knowing who’s got your back when you need it most. Here at Cycler, we pride ourselves on giving customers very comprehensive bicycle insurance cover. If something happens and you need us, we offer outstanding customer care and a quick claims service - our customer reviews speak for themselves.
Am I already covered under my home insurance?
Your bicycle might be covered under your home insurance, but the cover is unlikely to cover all of your needs and could leave you without your bicycle for a considerable amount of time as home insurance claims can take a while to resolve.
Home insurance isn’t designed with your bicycle in mind, so is unlikely to cover you for personal accidents, theft away from the home and public liability. Furthermore, if you claim on your home insurance, the excess you may be required to pay could be higher than the cost of having separate bicycle insurance. Naturally, your contents insurance premium may then increase when your policy comes to renewal because of the claim you made.
Please make sure you view the benefits and cover of our bicycle insurance policy before you make a decision. If you’re not sure, give us a call and we’ll help explain our cover options further.
What bicycles do you insure?
We insure road bikes, mountain bikes, tandems, gravel bikes, BMX and electric bikes (not scooters mopeds or motorbikes).
Should I get bicycle insurance?
Could you afford to simply replace a stolen or damaged bicycle out of your own pocket? Is it worth insuring? Could you be without it? If your bicycle is an integral part of your life, you may wish to get bicycle insurance cover that ensures you’re back up and running as soon as possible.

Is there an age limit for a bicycle I want to insure?
You can insure any aged bicycle but any claim value will be based on it's age and when you first purchased it. Check the terms and conditions for limitations and our depreciation scale for older bikes and bicycles not purchased as new.
If I arrange to repair my bicycle myself, will you pay for the cost?
Yes, provided we’ve approved the claim and the costs presented to us by way of a quotation. We do not pay for unauthorised repairs. We also need to be able to assess the damage to make the right decisions on whether to repair the bicycle, send you a replacement or allow you to arrange the repairs yourself.

To make a claim simply log in at www.cycler.co.uk call our friendly team on 0206 688097.

You will need your proof of purchase for your bike and accessories and the lock used along with evidence of the claim (pictures from the scene of the theft/accident).
My Bicycle was stolen and I’ve bought another one. Will you reimburse me for it?
Unfortunately, our bicycle insurance doesn’t work that way. If your bicycle has been stolen, you must report the theft to the police to get a crime reference number. Once you’ve completed this you can report the claim to us and we will complete a full claims assessment and we will issue you with the cost of a replacement bicycle up to the value that you insured it for. You have the insurance to cover the cost, don’t spend your own money unnecessarily as we won’t be able to reimburse you if you don't follow the claims process.
Do I need to report the theft or loss of my bicycle to the police?
Yes, you will need to report the theft of your bicycle to the Police within 48 hours of discovery. You will need to obtain a crime reference number in order to support a theft claim.

We try to keep our Excess levels really straightforward. The excess is stated within your policy schedule.

We rely on you to provide true and accurate details when you take out bicycle insurance with us and when you report any claim to us. If false, inaccurate or misleading information is provided to us at any time this could invalidate your policy and any claim that you make.
You need to be aware that we take fraud very seriously. We have measures in place to detect and deter fraud. We pass any information we have to fraud agencies, the Police and other insurers. We will always prosecute if fraud is proven.
